learning by example
i saw one of my roommates cleaning the kitchen and the bathroom last night, and thought i should probably do some cleaning today. i would be annoyed at her if i were the one always cleaning.
i came home to find everything i wanted to clean already clean, as well as 8 inches of snow shoveled off our driveway. i was kind of annoyed. i thought my roommate would be mad for having to do all the cleaning, when she could have waited 30 minutes and i would have been home to do it myself.
i thanked her for doing so much, and she was perfectly unaffected and gracious. she did it happily, expecting nothing in return. instead of assuming i was lazy and not pulling my weight (that's what i would have assumed), she just saw that she had time to clean and served where she could. willingly. happily.
and that is how my roommate was an example to me today.

I wish I had a roomate like that. Mine cleaned all the time but weren't nice about it. They were always bitter.
